christmas traditions

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all keeping warm on this first full day of winter. It’s a messy one here but that means all the more reason to sit by the tree with a warm cup of pepper mint hot chocolate!

I’ve seen a few bloggers post about holiday traditions in their homes and was discussing this with friends last night.

So, for day 10 of our holiday special, here are a few of my favourite holiday traditions

Decorating the tree: this is probably one of everyone’s favourites. I like to get the tree up late November and it gets me in the holiday mood- I also love having the little lights on when I am sitting in the living room.

The cookie exchange: I posted about this here. It’s always such a fun day with friends and family. You get all your baking done together and leave with a tray or box of an awesome assortment.

Christmas Eve celebrations: every year my family gets together for dinner, then we go to midnight mass followed by snacks, dessert and games (and usually get to open one gift).  Any type of get together with family and friends is always so much fun!

Holiday Pyjama Party: there’s always that night you spend in pyjamas watching Christmas movies and snacking on special treats- I love that! Here are movie night snack ideas too!

What are your holiday traditions? I’d love to hear them!

wishing you all a wonderful evening!

Can you believe Thursday of next week is boxing day??

For those of you with small children in the family, day 7 of our 12 days of Christmas is for you, today is all about crafts! (for all ages)

For the little ones

Kids love finger painting- these cute reindeer are simple & festive and look great on paper or on an ornament (see below)

I love this craft because it’s a nice decoration piece and is a fun activity any age (it can be personalized too)

Thanksgiving Inspiration: fall drinks

An important part of hosting a dinner is making sure your guests are completely taken care of. Offering them a drink is on that priority list. I like to have a signature drink, it makes the evening a little bit more themed and shows you were thinking ahead. You all know what beers, wine or other drinks your friends like but here are some festive suggestions you may want to incorporate this season!

For appetizers & during dinner:

Apple Cider Sangria

Hot Caramel Apple Cider

The Honey Ryder (an upgraded Appletini)

Non-alcoholic options:

2 cans frozen apple juice concentrate & 2 litres club soda

Cranberry Apple Crush

For the coffee bar or during dessert:

Salted Caramel Mocha Latte

White Chocolate Pumpkin Coffee

1 1/2 cups regular brewed coffee
1 1/2 cups milk
2 tbls. white chocolate chips
2 tbls. pumpkin puree
1/2  tsp. vanilla
pumpkin pie spice (a few dashes)
whipped cream and cinnamon topping

Warm coffee and milk in a small pot on the stove then add the chocolate chips, pumpkin, vanilla and pumpkin pie spice. Stir together over medium heat until the chocolate chips are melted and everything dissolves together. Top with the whipped cream and cinnamon!

Pumpkin Latte

Hot Chocolate Chai Tea

products I love part 2

¬†As I have mentioned, I tend to be a pretty simple girl with a love for themed parties, pretty dessert tables and inspiring color palettes. I always try to keep things simple and stress free. Sometimes the simplest things are the prettiest. So today, I thought I would share a few things on my go-to list. ¬†It’s time for the second edition of products I love.

Missed the first one? You can find it here. Looking for fall product inspiration? Check out this post.

Ikea has a great product at a low price. Basics such as the frosted jar or the heart shaped mould can be used year-round and the orange and black tins are perfect for the season and halloween party treats!

west westelm

West Elm never seizes to amaze me. How fabulous are these ceramic candle holders? Perfect for fall! And I am in love with this casual chic white serving set- perfect for every occasion.

I love this tray from Z Gallerie, the pattern and metallic are so trendy right now.

For me:

As our tans start to fade we need a little bronzer! I am not very picky about make up and I usually go for a mineral base but right now I am using Marcelle (the ones with the blush and bronzer are great!).

Yumm, a Starbucks Chai Tea Latte. A good alternative for an at-home version- the Tassimo/Keurig discs or the powder mix from Bulk Barn. Then you can add as much water or milk as you would like.

john-frieda-collection-frizz-ease-hair-serum-thermal- protection

I try so hard to keep my hair hydrated especially when I am blowdrying or straightening it. John Frieda Frizz Ease Serum is great for everyday use and leaves a light shine.

I love Victoria’s Secret/Pink loungewear. It is great for those cozy movie nights at home.

It is also the perfect weather for running, VS has awesome sports bras and athletic wear!

That’s all for now-wishing you all a wonderful day!
