Happy Monday Everyone!

Today’s post is all about this weekend’s happenings..

I got to spend some quality time with friends and family over lunch and downtown shopping!

Then I met for coffee with an awesome florist to talk about the industry and she provided me with these beautiful arrangements for a photo shoot I was doing Sunday.

Here are some sneak peeks of the shoot staged with The Millionaire’s Daughter

It’s day 12 everyone!

Thank you so much for following along the 12 days of Christmas as I went through holiday baking, decorating, fashion etc.

Today I am posting my holiday menu for tonight’s Christmas Eve dinner.

my homemade spinach dip- I don’t have a measurable recipe for the way I make it but this recipe looks awesome!

Smoked salmon rounds- purchase sliced pumpernickel load and use a cookie cutter to cut rounds. Use cake frosting pipe to make a round of chive cream cheese, place a piece of smoked salmon on top!

For more holiday appetizers check out this post!

Roast turkey (with crispy skin- yum!)

Slow cooking pot roast from M&M Meat Shops- comes ready to cook with marinade and it’s delicious

Garlic Mashed Potatoes (one of my favourite sides)

Cabbage Salad with Goat Cheese

Shredded Brussels Sprouts add bacon! (a family favourite)

Buns and homemade butter

A guest is bringing an assortment so that will be a surprise 🙂

If you’re looking for inspiration, here are some dessert recipes I’ve posted about throughout our special

cookies, cakes, gingerbread treats, peppermint

Now back to the kitchen for me, wishing you all wonderful holidays!

tonight’s menu & dream kitchens

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all having a great week so far- I can’t believe it’s already Thursday. The week (and the month for that matter) is going by so fast. I did draw a winner on Thursday and I am so excited to send Carley her the $100 Staples gift card to help get organized and creative this holiday season- congratulations and thanks for reading!

Although it’s chilly out today I felt like switching it up and pulling out some of my favourite summer recipes.

Here’s what for dinner tonight:

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork Sandwiches: I use this recipe (you can also buy the package or use a homemade barbecue sauce)

Fresh Corn Salad this recipe is really tasty and really simple- the best!

Roasted Potatoes Preheat oven to 425- cut potatoes into cubes, toss in oil and your favourite potato seasoning- I get mine at the Farmer’s Market it adds great flavour. Bake until crispy (about 25mins).

For dessert? peanut butter rice krispies ( I use the recipe on the cereal box and add some peanut butter!)

Enjoy your company, your backyard and something yummy!!

dinner tonight

Happy Saturday Everyone!

It’s a busy day today but I thought I would share a few recipes for those who may want to try something new in the kitchen.

Here’s what’s on my menu

Creamy Garlic Pasta

Easy Crispy Chicken Thighs

Garden Salad with my homemade dressing (that I may have to share someday!)

This meal is so simple and so tasty.

I will also share what’s for lunch– I like to make homemade burgers and freeze them. They are so great to have on hand when you don’t have much time to cook. Today we’re having them on english muffins with artichoke spread, lettuce, mozzarella and a side of sweet potato fries!

Easy Homemade Hamburgers (I add chopped onion to these for texture & flavour- I like doing them myself because you have more control of the portion size)

Sweet Potato Fries: Preheat the oven to 425. I peel and cut my sweet potato as you would for regular french fries. Toss them in a bowl with olive oil, a little bit of cornstarch (this makes them crispy) and your favourite potato seasoning, italian seasoning or  salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika.

Don’t have time for fries? Have chips and a few veggies on the side 🙂

Just a remind today is the last day to enter the Staples contest! All you have to do is go the creative details Facebook page, like the page and like a post. You’ll be entered to win! I am drawing a name tomorrow!

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

what’s for dinner tonight?

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I hope you are all enjoying the weekend. It is a beautiful sunny day here yet still chilly! We are going to be out and about this morning but this afternoon is all about cooking!

I am dreaming about cooking in this kitchen!

But for now in my own kitchen.. first I’m going to be making this creamy slow cooker tortellini soup for lunches later this week ( YUM!)

And then, as I was looking through photos of my trip this summer I was inspired by this Mediterranean macaroni and cheese.. comfort food gone gourmet!

For dessert? Mix and Match Mama always has great simple treats.. we’re having the pumpkin butterscotch no bake pie (it’s amazing the things you can do with frozen whipping topping!)

Stay tuned- I’ve been working on something exciting to come this week (it’s got a giveaway!)

enjoy your sunday, wishing you all a wonderful day!

what’s for dinner tonight

Tonight’s dinner was one those “make up the menu on the spot” dinners. It turned out to be yummy so it became a what’s for dinner tonight? post..

Here’s what was on the menu:

Spinach Stuffed Chicken : I created a slit in the boneless, skinless chicken breast and filled it with my spinach mixture (cream cheese, grated parmesan, chopped spinach and garlic powder). I don’t measure this, I add until it looks right to me.  You can then marinate the chicken or coat it with breadcrumbs (we liked it crispy tonight so I used the breadcrumbs).

Sweet Potato Cubes: I peel and chop the sweet potatoes into small cubes. I toss them in olive oil and sprinkle with salt, pepper, paprika and garlic powder (I ran out of potato seasoning but this was just as good!)

I’ve had the healthy foodies Grilled Corn Salad on my mind so I made this as another side.

I do not own the photos posted above. I got them from google and added them to the post.

entertaining tips coming tomorrow.

wishing you all a wonderful evening!

tonight’s comfort food: chili recipes

Today was one of those cool yet sunny days. After a busy day at work it was so nice to come home and have one of my favourite comfort foods. Chili with homemade garlic bread- yum!

Here’s the recipe I used:

Real Simple’s Southwestern Chili with Corn (we love this in our house! this time we used ground turkey and it was delicious)

And here are a few more you may like:

Beef & Beer Chili

Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Cincinnati Chili (another favorite!)

Chili Stuffed Baked Potatoes

Chili Mac (I made this a few weeks ago and it was a big hit!)

There are so many great variations to this list of ingredients and they are all so tasty.
