wedding wednesday: groomsmen gifts

Happy Wednesday!

With the cold weather and engagement season in full swing I have been in total wedding mode lately- Pinterest, meetings and crafts have taken over my life but I have to say- I absolutely love it!

I’ve been chatting (and writing) a lot about entertaining, decor, recipes etc. And although men probably benefit of the recipes.. I don’t want them to feel left out! So today’s wedding wednesday is for the boys! (and maybe for the girls since you will probably be doing some of this shopping).

Groomsmen gifts can be a little tricky so I collected a few of my favourite ideas for you!

I love these personalized cufflinks- in my mind wedding party gifts are all about adding a personal touch and making those close to you feel extra special- this gift does that perfectly!

Boat shoes! What a great gift, these are the perfect show for everyman

Every man needs a great wedding/survival kit. A tie, some whiskey, a cigar and some steak spice is pretty much all they need!

I’ve got so many more, I may have to do part 2 ūüôā

Happy Friday Everyone!

Life has been crazy busy this week- December is just around the corner and everyone is starting to prepare for the holidays.

In regards to weddings and events-I have been seeing a comeback for champagne and gold- it’s a nice alternative to the burlap, rustic look that is so popular right now.

I was part of the set up for a wedding in August that has this color palette- it was such a romantic look!

this look can be dressed up or dressed down- i love that!

Adding some black accents to make it just a little but sharper- perfect for the winter season.

ballerina birthday

I was out running errands last weekend and I saw the cutest little girl wearing a birthday girl tiara and a tutu. pirate party theme

Good Morning!

For those of you who have been reading this blog you know I try to share simple tips for everything related to entertaining. I haven’t posted much about kids yet so I will start today! For most you, birthday parties will be the reason to get creative and plan something fun for your kids and their friends. I personally don’t think you need a reason to have a party but if you do, a birthday is a pretty good one!

So, for all you moms, aunts, friends, cousins etc. who may be in charge of planning a child’s party, how about a pirate theme??

I am loving this theme right now because the young ones get so into it and it is super simple to make it look fabulous.

Here’s some inspiration:

invitations invite

Set the tone for your party with a creative invitation, this has your guests looking forward to the event way in advance!

(the message in a bottle has to be my favourite- so cute!)

signs costumes

Have signs and costumes there upon arrival, kids will love this.

I always tell my clients food tables are the easiest to incorporate theme. Use simple foods and get creative, add some flags, signs, wraps etc.

treasure hunt f88e6e621cbe7be908bf4cffd8129851

Every party needs games, print out a map or a list of clues and set up a treasure hunt for the group. Pirate ring toss looks fun too!

loot bags

Loot bags are a must. Make your own party mix or buy a caramel corn mix and add some chocolate gold coins to the bags. Setting them in a box or chest ties in the theme.

All of these ideas are so simple to do! Check out your local craft store, dollar store, Target. Or contact me and it will show up at your door in one pretty package ūüôā

Stay Tuned- tomorrow’s post features some great party appetizers.¬†

wine & cheese

Good Morning Everyone!

I have been trying to get all my closest friends and family together this summer for a wine and cheese party. The weather is now perfect for this to happen outside without anyone being too hot and I cannot wait to relax, enjoy their company and taste a few great wine and cheese pairings.

I’ve done some research and thought I would share my findings with all of you:

First you will need some “tools”

This is a great set from Bed Bath & Beyond.

Williams Sonoma also has nice options!

Less fancy? Try Ikea or even Costco. They have a good product at a low price.

For more info on cheese knives, read this article.

Next, the wine glasses

Thank you to Crate & Barrel for this handy chart!

My favorite looks right now?

Wine charms are a cute accessory and are helpful when hosting a big group. These are personalized charms found on Etsy. You can also find charms at any food, entertaining, craft or department store.

You can never have too many napkins!

West elm, of course.

Paper napkins work too, I have these from Target.

flatbread pizzas

Good Morning Everyone!

Today I am sharing one of my favorite entertaining recipes-one that can be done in so many ways. We’re talking about flatbread pizzas, these are what I like to think of as the gourmet pizza. They use a different base, different toppings but the same concept. Next time you are entertaining prepare these in advance to pop in the oven and wow your guests with your laid-back attitude while the work is done! Having a sit down meal? Why not have your guests make their own flatbreads, my family loves this style. Everyone can make their own then we try some of each!

Here is some flatbread pizza inspiration!

My Favorite Flatbread:

I use naan bread from the store, I spread homemade spinach dip, chopped chicken, pieces of bacon and some mozzarella.

sauce ideas:  bbq sauce, alfredo, pesto mayo, artichoke spread, spinach dip

tea party

Good morning everyone and welcome back to creative entertaining! Today’s post is so exciting to me because it’s soft, girly and timeless. Who doesn’t love a great tea party? This theme is fun at every age.

tea party

Here are some tips and inspiration to host your own!

If you are traditional and looking to host a classic tea, go for a soft color palette- pinks, whites, peach.

blushing white crown

Feeling a little more modern? Add some grey tones or go for a mint palette.

Your decor: you don’t need much to create a girly atmosphere- your food and tea cups will do a lot for you.

DIY idea: blow up balloons in different sizes and simply tape them to the wall- inexpensive, easy and fun to do!

If you want to add floral, I love hydrangea. It comes in almost every shade, it is in expensive and it is sold in large heads meaning you don’t need a lot of stems to fill a vase! It also looks amazing paired with any other flower.

Adding wood frames is easy because you probably have some around the house or can buy them inexpensively. They add a nice texture to the over all look.

all you need is love

Menus and place settings also bring a nice touch and personalize your event- these are easy to make at home or can be purchased.
